Research Associate, Omaha The purpose of the health services activities in a Head Start Program is to find and remedy a child's existing health defects, and thereby improve his present functioning. These preventive services not only support the child's future health, but improve that of family members and of the community in general. This paper describes how these comprehensive health goals were achieved in a poor rural area of southern Missouri.
