Journal ClubThis "Preliminary statement," here presented in abridged form, was developed by the USPHS Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices in close liaison with the Committee on Control. of Infectious Diseases of the American Academy of Pediatrics. The major goal of the new live attenuated rubella virus vaccine will be widespread immunization of children. Past experience with measles and poliomyelitis has indicated that a successful ongoing program involving routine immunization of a high per cent of infants and children can eliminate epidemics of these diseases.
