Myringotomy—An Office ProcedureFrom the Department of Otolaryngology, Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, and University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine Knowing how to employ myringotomy properly will help the physician control acute otitis media with or without mas toiditis, and assist in preventing the hearing loss so often associated with chronic otitis. Here is a description of how myringotomy can be utilized to uncover occult pathologic processes, as well as to provide adequate sur gical drainage when needed.
