Unilateral Bronchiolitis Obliterans: A Case Report

Amrita Dosanjh, M.D.

Children's Hospital Boston, Massachusetts

Bronchiolitis obliterans is an infrequent form of chronic bronchiolitis. It is distinguished by pathologic findings of partially or completely obstructed bronchi and bronchioles by fibrous tissue. It can lead to unilateral hyperlucent lung syndrome (Swyer-James) and has been described in all age groups, but tends to be a disease of young adults. There is no known predilection for sex or geographic area. 1-3
