Department of Orthopedics, Vanderbilt Medical School, Children's Hospital of Vanderbilt, Nashville, Tennessee ORAL ANTIBIOTIC TREATMENT of acute staphylococcal osteomyelitis in toddler and school-age children has proven a cost-effective and efficacious alternative to intravenous therapy. 1,2 Oral antibiotic regimens, however, have not been carefully studied in neonatal osteomyelitis.
