The Physician's Role in Delivering Sensitive Information to Families with Handicapped Infants

The critical nature of the physician's role in delivering sensitive information to families with handicapped infants is discussed. A review of research and teaching practices associated with conveying serious diagnoses is presented. Specific suggestions are described, to be followed when delivering disturbing diagnostic information.
