Department of Pediatrics, University of Virginia Medical Center, Charlottesville, Virginia The sudden death of a 6-year-old child due to a colloid cyst of the third ventricle is described. Although rare, colloid cysts do present in childhood. The initial manifestation may be signs of acute increased intracranial pressure, and sudden death may result unless recognition and treatment are prompt.
