Auditory Brain-stem Response Audiometry in ChildrenFrom the Center for Speech and Hearing Disorders, Duke University Medical Center, Durham, North Carolina Auditory Brain-stem Response (ABR) Audiometry, also called Brain-stem Evoked Response Audiometry, is an effective procedure for assessing the hear ing of children who cannot or will not perform satisfactorily on behavioral audiotnetric tests. Although ABR audiometry has limitations, it does permit an estimate of hearing status in nearly all children regardless of their age or developmental level.
