Should Parents Be Informed of Innocent Murmurs?

Some Consequences of Routine Disclosure, and Some Suggestions for Transmitting the Information

Because of the high incidence of parental misconception and subsequent emotional trauma, the pediatrician must be cautious when deciding whether to disclose the presence of an innocent murmur; if he decides to inform the parents he must do this with thoughtfulness and care.
