Identifying and Counselling the Sexually Active Adolescent Is Every Physician's Responsibility

Adele D. Hofmann, M.D.

Director, Adolescent Medical Unit, Department of Pediatrics, New York University Medical Center, 550 First Avenue, New York, New York 10016

Unwanted pregnancies among teen-agers today are so numerous that they now represent a major health problem for this age group. All physicians with adolescents in their practice are urged to determine which of these are at risk, and then institute preventive measures. The author offers suggestions and guidelines, and reviews the legal aspects.
