The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, 1740 Bainbridge Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 19146 The early recognition of leukemia rests on a heightened awareness of the possibility of this disease in children with obscure symptoms. Once suspected, confirmation of the diagnosis is not difficult. The natural history of the disease has altered considerably in the past ten years due, in large part, to the increased survival.
